Adjust swap settings in Phantom

With each swap, you can adjust the available settings and review the trade details before confirming. Available options depend on your payment method, tokens, and networks.

Review and adjust your swap #

Tap the settings icon in the upper right to change the available options:

  • Display Currency: Choose the currency used to display trade amounts.
  • Provider: Choose the provider that routes your swap.
  • Slippage: Set how much the execution price can differ from your quote.
  • Priority Fee: Adjust the fee used to prioritize your transaction on Solana.
  • Tip: Adjust an optional payment that can help your Solana transaction get included sooner.

Swaps with Cash show fewer settings. The available settings may also differ on the Review screen.

To view trade details on the Review screen, tap the information button ⓘ next to the amount you’re buying or selling:

  • Pricing: The quoted exchange rate.
  • Slippage: Your current slippage tolerance.
  • Price Impact: How much your trade affects the market price.

Review your payment method and the fees shown under Payment, then tap Confirm when you’re ready.

Set slippage tolerance #

Slippage is the difference between the quoted price and the price at which your swap executes. Prices can change between receiving a quote and completing the transaction.

Slippage tolerance limits how much of that difference you’ll accept:

  • A lower tolerance provides tighter price protection but can cause a swap to fail.
  • A higher tolerance allows more price movement but can result in a worse execution price.

With Auto, Phantom adjusts the tolerance based on market conditions.

To set a value, follow these steps:

  1. Select Slippage.
  2. Choose 0.5%, 1%, 2%, or a custom value between 0.1% and 30%.
  3. Confirm your selection.

Understand price impact #

Price impact is the change in price caused by your own trade. A larger trade relative to available liquidity can move the price further against you.

For example, a $2,000 swap generally has a greater effect on a pool with $10,000 in liquidity than on one with $1,000,000.

Review the quoted amount and Price Impact before confirming. If the impact is high, consider reducing the trade amount or using a route with more liquidity.

Price impact and slippage #

Price impact and slippage tolerance describe different things:

  • Price impact describes how your trade affects the price and is generally reflected in the quote.
  • Slippage tolerance limits how much execution can differ from that quote.

Increasing slippage tolerance doesn’t reduce price impact or improve the quoted rate.

Adjust Solana transaction fees #

Priority Fee and Tip are available for swaps on Solana.

Priority fee #

A priority fee can help your transaction get processed sooner when the network is busy. Phantom uses Auto by default.

To set a custom fee, follow these steps:

  1. Select Priority Fee, then Custom.
  2. Enter an amount between 0.00001 SOL and 1 SOL.
  3. Confirm your selection.
Tip #

A tip is an optional payment that can improve the chance of your transaction being included quickly. Phantom uses Auto by default.

To set a custom tip, follow these steps:

  1. Select Tip, then Custom.
  2. Enter an amount between 0.00001 SOL and 1 SOL.
  3. Confirm your selection.
