Reset your Phantom browser extension password
If you’ve forgotten the password for the Phantom browser extension, you will need to reset the extension, then restore or sign in to your wallet, and then set a new password. Resetting your extension does not affect your wallet, recovery phrase, private keys, or funds.
Step 1: Back up your wallet credentials #
Before resetting the extension, make sure you have the credentials you originally used to create your wallet:
- Google or Apple wallet: Access to your Google or Apple account and, if set before, your four-digit PIN.
- Recovery phrase wallet: Your 12- or 24-word Secret Recovery Phrase.
- Additional imported wallets: If you imported additional recovery phrases or private keys, have those ready as well. You’ll need to import them again after the reset.
If you need to find your credentials first, see View your recovery phrase or private keys in Phantom.
Step 2: Reset the password #
- Click the Phantom browser extension icon.
- Click Forgot password > Reset & wipe app.
- After Phantom reopens in a new tab, click I Already Have a Wallet.
- Restore your wallet using your original credentials.
- Create a new password. Your password must be at least eight characters long and must contain at least one special character, one capital letter, and one number.
