Understand position health in Phantom
Position health is a provisional score from 0 to 100 that helps you monitor your perp position’s risk of liquidation. It considers your distance to liquidation and stop-loss protection. A higher score indicates a healthier position.
Check position health #
In the Phantom mobile app, open a perp position to see its health score below the chart. Tap the score card to view your stop-loss and take-profit settings and liquidation buffer.
| Score | Description |
|---|---|
| 85–100 | Plenty of room before liquidation |
| 60–84 | Some room, but worth monitoring |
| 35–59 | Getting close to liquidation |
| 0–34 | At or near liquidation |
How the score works #
Distance to liquidation is the main factor. As the price approaches your liquidation price, the score decreases. Leverage affects the score indirectly by changing that distance.
A stop-loss set to trigger before liquidation can improve the score. Take-profit orders don’t increase it.
The Liquidation buffer shows how far the price can move against you before liquidation, as a percentage. It uses a price calculated from your position’s reported value and size, which may differ from the chart price.
The score isn’t a probability of safety or a guarantee against liquidation. Prices and orders can change between updates, and a stop-loss isn’t guaranteed to execute.
Improve position health #
Adding margin, reducing your position size, or setting a stop-loss may improve position health.
For instructions, see Manage your positions.
If position health is unavailable #
Health unavailable means Phantom can’t calculate the score reliably. A valid liquidation price may be missing, or position or stop-loss data may be unavailable.
