Increase the network fee to speed up a transaction

  • Updated

When network activity is high, transactions can take longer than expected to confirm. In some cases, you can manually increase the network fee to improve your chances of a faster confirmation.

Manual fee adjustments are only available for native token transfers on Ethereum, Polygon, Bitcoin, Base, and HyperEVM. For example, sending ETH, POL, BTC, or HYPE. Non-native token transfers such as USDC, app interactions, NFT transactions, and all transactions on Solana, Sui, and Monad do not support manual fee adjustments.

Note: Increasing the gas fee does not guarantee faster confirmation, but it can improve your chances, especially during periods of high congestion.

Speed up a transaction before sending it

On Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Bitcoin, and HyperEVM, you can choose between three speed options when sending a transaction: Fast, Average, or Slow. Faster options typically cost more because your transaction includes a higher fee to be prioritized by the network. On uncongested networks, the difference in cost between Slow and Fast may be minimal.

  1. On the transaction preview screen, select Network fee.
  2. Choose a speed: Fast, Average, or Slow.
  3. Select Save.

Speed up a pending transaction

If you already sent a transaction and it is still pending, you can try to speed it up by following these steps:

  1. In Phantom, go to Recent Activity (clock icon).
  2. Select the pending transaction.
  3. Select Speed up.
  4. Confirm to resend the transaction with a higher network fee.
