If you accidentally sent funds to an EVM address on a network not supported by Phantom (e.g, BSC, ARB, OP, Avalanche, Linea, etc.), you can recover them using an Ethereum/EVM-compatible wallet such as MetaMask or Trust Wallet.
Always ensure that you download third-party wallets from the wallet's official website when entering a private key or seed phrase. Phantom is not liable for losses incurred from entering keys or phrases into malicious apps.
The following steps are specifically for using MetaMask, but the process is applicable with any wallet that supports these networks.
Steps for recovery if you already have a MetaMask wallet:
- Identify the network where the funds were transferred.
- Open your MetaMask wallet.
- Navigate to network settings (at the top left) and search for the network. If the network isn't present in the search results, select the "Add network" option at the bottom. You should now see a screen displaying popular networks that you can add.
- If you can't find the network, use the "Add network manually" option to add it manually.
- Once you've done that, import your private key from Phantom into MetaMask by clicking the account name dropdown (at the top) and then selecting "Add account or hardware wallet" > Import account. Paste the private key and click "Import".
Steps for recovery if you don't have a MetaMask Wallet:
- Identify the network where the tokens were sent.
- Download MetaMask and create a new wallet.
- Follow the recovery steps listed above for existing MetaMask wallet users.
Steps after token recovery:
Transfer the tokens back to your exchange account. Then, withdraw them to your Phantom wallet using the appropriate network. Please remember to use your Phantom wallet. Phantom supports Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Solana, and Bitcoin networks only.
Note: You need to have native network tokens in your wallet to cover the transaction fees. E.g., If you have USDT sent on the Arbitrum network, then you need ARB tokens to send the USDT to your exchange wallet.
