Adjust swap settings in Phantom
With each swap, you can adjust the available settings and review the trade details on the confirmation screen before you proceed. Available options depend on your payment method, tokens, and networks.
Review and adjust your swap #
Some details appear directly on the screen. For the rest, tap or click the swap settings icon in the upper right.
Here's what you can change:
- Slippage: Set how much the execution price can differ from your quote.
- Provider: Choose the provider that routes your swap, including bridge providers. Providers differ in price, so comparing them can lower your costs. In the browser extension, click Pricing first to get to this option.
- Priority Fee: Set how much you pay to get your Solana transaction processed sooner.
- Tip: Set an optional payment that can help your Solana transaction get included sooner.
Here's what you can review:
- Pricing: The quoted exchange rate between the two tokens.
- Price Impact: How much your trade affects the price, shown as a percentage.
- Fees: The Phantom fee and network fee for this swap.
Adjust slippage #
Slippage is the difference between the quoted price and the price at which your swap executes. Prices can change between receiving a quote and completing the transaction.
Slippage tolerance limits how much of that difference you'll accept:
- A low tolerance means the swap fails if the price moves more than that.
- A high tolerance means the swap can go through at a worse price.
Phantom usually sets this automatically to the lowest value likely to succeed. In volatile or low-liquidity pairs, the automatic setting can still be high.
You can also set your own value between 0.1% and 30%.
Understand price impact #
Price impact is how much your own trade affects the price, shown as a percentage. Larger trades and lower-liquidity tokens usually have higher price impact. It's already reflected in the amount you receive.
For example, if you swap $100 and price impact shows 1%, you receive about $99 worth of tokens before fees. At 5%, you'd receive about $95.
Before you confirm, check the amount you're quoted to receive and Price Impact. For high price impact, Phantom shows a warning.
To reduce price impact, use a smaller amount or a token with more liquidity. Raising your slippage tolerance doesn't reduce price impact.
Adjust priority fee #
A priority fee can help your Solana transaction get processed sooner when the network is busy. Phantom usually sets this value automatically based on real-time network conditions.
You can also set your own between 0.00001 SOL and 1 SOL. In general, a higher fee gets your transaction processed faster, and it costs more SOL.
Adjust tip #
A tip is an optional payment that can improve the chance of your Solana transaction being included quickly. Phantom usually sets this value automatically based on real-time network conditions.
You can also set your own between 0.00001 SOL and 1 SOL. In general, a higher tip gets your transaction processed faster, and it costs more SOL.
