If you’re trying to delete, disable, or close your Phantom wallet the same way you might delete a Google or Apple account, it’s important to understand that Phantom works differently.
Phantom is a self-custodial wallet. Your wallet and accounts are not stored on Phantom’s servers. Instead, Phantom is an interface that lets you access your accounts directly on the blockchain. Because blockchain data is permanent, wallets and accounts cannot be deleted the way a traditional user profile can.
Delete a wallet created with Google or Apple account
If you created your wallet by signing in with Google or Apple, you can delete it in the Phantom app.
Tip: Before deleting your wallet, consider exporting your recovery phrase in Settings → Security & Privacy → Show Recovery Phrase. This gives you an additional way to restore access later.
- Select your profile avatar in the upper-left corner.
- Go to Settings → Security & Privacy.
- Select Delete Wallet.
- Follow the prompts to confirm.
- Uninstall Phantom from all your devices.
After you delete your wallet, Phantom disconnects it from your email login, so you can’t restore it using your email and PIN. Your wallet addresses still exist on the blockchain.
If you want to delete your wallet and create a new one using the same email, see Create a new wallet with the same email.
Delete a wallet created with a recovery phrase
If you created your wallet using a 12- or 24-word recovery phrase, you can remove it only by uninstalling Phantom from all your devices. Your wallet addresses still exist on the blockchain.
Tip: If you might want to access the wallet again, export your recovery phrase in Settings → Security & Privacy → Show Recovery Phrase before uninstalling.
Troubleshooting
Delete Wallet is unavailable
If Delete Wallet is unavailable, you may have an active Phantom Cash account linked to your username. You can’t delete your wallet until you close your Cash account.
To close your Cash account, see Delete a wallet with an active Cash account.
Delete Wallet is missing
If you don’t see Delete Wallet, your wallet was likely created with a recovery phrase. In that case, uninstall Phantom from your devices.
If you’re sure you originally created your wallet with Google or Apple account, reset Phantom and try to delete the wallet again:
- Go to Settings → Security & Privacy → Reset App.
- Sign in again with Google or Apple and your 4-digit PIN.
- Check Settings → Security & Privacy for Delete Wallet.
Security reminder
Never share your Secret Recovery Phrase with anyone, not even Phantom Support. Store it in a secure, offline location.
