Create a new Phantom wallet with Google or Apple

  • Updated

You can create a new Phantom wallet by signing in with your Google or Apple account and setting a four-digit PIN.

Recovery requires both your email and your PIN, so that neither alone is enough to restore your wallet. Your seed is encrypted and distributed across independent systems so that no single party, including Phantom, can ever access it.

You will use your email and PIN to restore your wallet on a new device or after resetting the app.

A wallet created this way is sometimes called a seedless wallet or email wallet.

Tip: Your wallet also has a 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase, which you can export as an additional backup. We strongly recommend doing this after setup. To export it, go to SettingsSecurity & PrivacyShow Recovery Phrase and store it securely offline. If you lose access to both your PIN and your recovery phrase, you may permanently lose access to your wallet.

Before you start

These steps in this article are for setting up Phantom for the first time. If Phantom already has a wallet on your device and you want to replace it with a new one, reset the app first. See Reset Phantom for instructions.

If you want to create a new wallet with the same Google/Apple account, see Create a new Phantom wallet with the same email.

If your wallet was compromised and you still have funds you want to move out first, see Move funds to a new Phantom wallet when you need to start over before resetting.
