Swap Bitcoin in Phantom

  • Updated

You can swap Bitcoin directly in Phantom on mobile and the browser extension. This lets you trade between Bitcoin and other tokens on supported networks without using a third-party exchange.

Important: Bitcoin swaps have higher network fees than swaps on Solana or EVM networks, and transactions take longer to confirm—this is normal. Fees are shown in the quote before you confirm your swap.

Before you swap

You need a small amount of Bitcoin (around 500 sats) to cover network fees. See About gas (network fees) for more information.

Swap Bitcoin

  1. In Phantom, open the Swap tab.
  2. In You Pay, select a supported token. For example, SOL on the Solana network.
  3. In You Receive, select the Bitcoin network, then select Bitcoin.
  4. Enter the amount you want to swap.
  5. Review the fees and select Swap Now.

Phantom shows an estimated time to complete the swap. Bitcoin will appear in your portfolio after the transaction confirms.

Buy and sell Bitcoin on mobile

On mobile, you can also use the Buy and Sell buttons to convert between Bitcoin and other tokens directly from the Bitcoin token page.

To sell Bitcoin (swap Bitcoin for another token):

  2. Tap Sell.
  3. Enter the amount of Bitcoin you want to sell.
  4. Choose the token you want to receive, such as SOL or USDC.
  5. Review and confirm.

The token you selected will appear in your portfolio after the transaction confirms. Your Bitcoin balance will decrease by the amount sold.

To buy Bitcoin (swap another token for Bitcoin):

  1. Tap Bitcoin in your portfolio.
  2. Tap Buy.
  3. Choose the token in your portfolio you want to pay with.

FAQ

Why don't I see Bitcoin in the list of networks?

If you're trying to swap to Bitcoin but don't see Bitcoin in the list of networks, make sure that the Bitcoin network is enabled in your app. Go to SettingsActive Networks and turn on Bitcoin.

Where does my swapped Bitcoin go?

Phantom defaults to your Taproot address when receiving swapped Bitcoin, even if Taproot isn't enabled. If you don't see your Bitcoin after a swap, turn on Taproot in Settings → Preferences → Preferred Bitcoin Address.

Are Bitcoin swaps supported on Sui or Monad?

No. Bitcoin swaps currently support Solana and EVM networks (Base, Polygon, Ethereum).

Can I swap wrapped Bitcoin (wBTC)?

Only on the same network (for example, wBTC ↔ USDC on Ethereum). To trade real Bitcoin, choose the Bitcoin network in Phantom.

Can I swap Bitcoin on the extension?

Yes. Both the Phantom mobile app and browser extension support Bitcoin swaps.
