Swaps on Solana usually require a small amount of SOL to cover network fees (gas). If your wallet doesn't have enough SOL, the swap will fail due to insufficient SOL balance.
With gasless swaps in the Phantom mobile app, you can complete a swap even with little or no SOL. Instead of SOL, Phantom deducts the fee from the token you're swapping into.
Gasless swaps are only available on the Phantom mobile app.
When does a gasless swap apply?
Phantom switches to a gasless swap automatically. You don't need to turn it on yourself. It kicks in when all three of the following are true:
- Your SOL balance is too low to cover the network fee for the swap.
- The token you're swapping into is verified and has a market cap above $50,000.
- You're not using any advanced options, specifically:
- A manual priority fee (called a "tip")
- Exact output mode, which is when you type a specific amount into the "You receive" field instead of the "You pay" field
If any of these conditions aren't met, the standard swap process applies.
Fees
Gasless swaps charge a fee of 0.85% of the token amount you receive. For example, if you're swapping into $100 worth of a token, the fee would be $0.85.
