What if I received a wrapped token?

  • Updated

Wrapped tokens are representations of crypto assets that exist on a different blockchain. For example, a wrapped version of SOL (wSOL) can be used on Ethereum. These tokens are backed 1:1 by the original asset and allow for interoperability between blockchains.

If you received a wrapped token, you can swap it on the Swap tab in your Phantom wallet. The unwrapping process now happens automatically during the swap. See Swap tokens in Phantom.

Don’t send wrapped tokens to an exchange. Many exchanges don’t support wrapped tokens, which may lead to a loss of funds.

If you’re unsure:

  • Contact the exchange to confirm support.
  • Or, swap the token back to its native form before sending it.
