What if I lost my secret recovery phrase, seed phrase, or private key?

Your Secret Recovery Phrase or Private Key is the only way to access your wallet and funds. DO NOT share it with anyone! If someone else has access to it, they will have access to your wallet.

Your Secret Recovery Phrase or Private Key is the only way to access your wallet and funds. DO NOT share it with anyone! If someone else has access to it, they will have access to your wallet. With that, Phantom support will NEVER ask for your Secret Recovery Phrase or Private Key.

If you still have the Phantom app installed you can view the seed phrase or private key in the app by following these steps:

  1. Open your wallet and select the wallet name or the pencil icon at the top of the wallet.
  2. This will show the settings then click show secret recovery phrase or show private key.

If you’ve lost your Secret Recovery Phrase or Private Key and no longer have Phantom installed, you will not be able to access your crypto. Unfortunately, this is irreversible, and neither the Phantom team nor anyone else can assist with recovery.

To avoid this situation:

  • Back up your Secret Recovery Phrase offline. Write it down and store it in a secure, private location.
  • Treat your Secret Recovery Phrase as the ultimate key to your wallet—it’s your responsibility to keep it safe.

If you’re interested in alternative recovery methods, such as linking your wallet to an email and PIN, check out Phantom’s sign on with Google or Apple feature. This feature allows your wallet to be linked to your email and PIN, making it easier to recover access without relying solely on a Secret Recovery Phrase or Private Keys. However, this feature is only available for wallets created with Social Login.
