How to update Phantom extension in Google Chrome

  • Updated

Keeping your Phantom extension updated is essential to ensure the best security and functionality for managing your digital assets. Here’s a simple guide to help you check and apply updates for the Phantom extension in Google Chrome.

Automatic updates

Phantom updates automatically as new versions are released. Restarting your browser is a quick way to prompt Chrome to check for updates. Additionally, regularly restarting your browser ensures you’re also applying any new browser base-level updates, which is always a good security practice.

Manual updates

If you suspect your Phantom Wallet extension hasn’t updated or want to ensure you’re on the latest version, follow these steps to force an update:

Step 1: Access Chrome extension settings

  1. Right-click the Phantom extension icon in your browser toolbar.
  2. Select Manage Extension from the dropdown menu.

If you want to view all of your installed extensions, go to to chrome://extensions/.

Step 2: Turn on Developer Mode

In the tab that opens, turn on Developer mode in the top-right corner.

Step 3: Update the extension

Select Update. Chrome will check for any available updates for all installed extensions.

Step 4: Verify the update

If a newer version of Phantom is available, Chrome will update the extension and you'll notice that the Version number displayed on the extension details page will change. If no updates are available, your extension is already up to date.
