The Phantom Support team will never send you a DM, nor will they ever initiate a conversation with you via email. The Phantom Support will only respond to inquiries when a ticket has been submitted by visiting help.phantom.app. If you receive a DM from someone claiming to be from Phantom Support, we would encourage you to not respond to their message, and notify us by visiting help.phantom.app and submitting a ticket.
Quick Tip: How to Spot a Scam
- As stated above, someone claims to be Phantom Support in unsolicited messages.
- Requests for your seed phrase, PIN, or private information.
- Sends you links directing you to non-Phantom domains (e.g., phishing sites).
- Messages with urgency or threats (e.g., “Act now or your wallet will be deactivated”).
At Phantom, our top priority is ensuring a safe and secure environment for our users to access Web3 applications. To achieve this, we continuously monitor emerging scam trends to safeguard our users from fraudulent activities.
We have a variety of internal systems in place for determining risks, but we also value input from fellow members of the web3 ecosystem. As such, we encourage users to submit a ticket to the Phantom Support team to report suspicious activity such as: phishing links, fake websites, malicious applications, social media impersonators, and/or any other activity that might pose a risk to users.
We are continuously working to prevent scams and ensure the safety of user’s funds. That said, if you become a victim of a scam while using Phantom, we recommend reporting the incident by submitting a ticket for the Phantom Support team to review. We understand that falling victim to a scam can be a distressing experience. Please know that by reporting these incidents, you’re helping to protect yourself and the wider community.
Should you not wish to report the incident to the Phantom Support team, we would still recommend that you report the incident to your local authorities and, depending on your jurisdiction, write it off as a loss on your taxes.
Additionally, while it is very difficult to track down and recover stolen funds, there are teams that help track stolen funds. If your funds go to an exchange they try to contact that exchange to freeze the funds. For fund recovery, you can explore services like ChainAbuse, which allows users to report incidents and connect with the community for advice. Additionally, platforms like Chainalysis offer advanced tracking for stolen funds, though these services may involve fees.
It is important to note that Phantom is a non-custodial wallet. This means that your wallet is fully under your control. Neither Phantom nor any third party can access your funds, reverse transactions, or recover your account. Always store your seed phrase securely and avoid sharing it with anyone. We urge you to remain vigilant and prioritize your security.
Be safe out there!
