Native staking lets you earn SOL rewards by delegating SOL directly to a Solana validator. You need at least 1 SOL to stake.

Your SOL stays in a stake account under your control, and rewards are paid to that account in SOL. Unlike liquid staking with Phantom Staked SOL (PSOL), your SOL isn't pooled or converted into another token.

Choose a validator #

When you stake SOL, you choose a validator. Validators process transactions and help secure Solana.

Use these tools to compare validators:

Consider commission, uptime, and vote performance when choosing a validator. Spreading stake across validators also helps keep Solana decentralized.

Stake SOL #

Native staking is available in the Phantom browser extension.

1. Open Solana from your token list.
2. Click More > Stake SOL.
3. Click Native Staking.
4. Choose a validator.
5. Enter at least 1 SOL.
6. Click Stake.

Your stake first appears as Activating. It starts earning rewards once it becomes Active, typically within 2 to 3 days.

1. Open Solana from your token list.
2. Under Native Stakes, tap Other.
3. Tap a stake account.
4. Check Last Reward.

Browser extension #

1. Open Solana from your token list.

View your full reward history #

To view your full reward history by epoch, use solanabeach.io.

1. Go to solanabeach.io.
2. Enter your Solana address. See Find your wallet address in Phantom.
3. Click Stake Accounts.
4. Select a stake account.
5. Click Stake Rewards.

To download your reward history, click Download CSV.

Unstake SOL #

You can unstake at any time. It typically takes 2 to 3 days for your stake to become available to withdraw.

Mobile app #

1. Open Solana from your token list.
2. Under Native Stakes, tap Other.
3. Tap the stake account.
4. Tap Unstake.

Browser extension #

1. Open Solana from your token list.
2. Under Native Stakes, click Other.
3. Click the stake account.
4. Click Unstake.

Your stake shows as Deactivating until it becomes Inactive. You can then withdraw the SOL to your wallet.

Withdraw SOL after unstaking #

Once your stake is Inactive, withdraw it to return the SOL to your wallet.

2. Under Native Stakes, tap Other.
3. Tap the Inactive stake account.
4. Tap Withdraw Stake.

Browser extension #

1. Open Solana from your token list.
2. Under Native Stakes, click Other.
3. Click the Inactive stake account.
4. Click Withdraw Stake.

Your SOL returns to your wallet, and the stake account closes.

Your stake account moves through four states:

Common issues #

Stake isn't showing up #

New stakes can take a few seconds to appear. Refresh the Solana page and check Native Stakes again.

Stake is still Activating or Deactivating #

Stake status changes happen with Solana epochs, which typically last 2 to 3 days. Check the current epoch at solanabeach.io or explorer.solana.com.

I unstaked but my SOL isn't in my wallet #

Unstaking doesn't return SOL to your wallet automatically. Wait until the stake is Inactive, then follow the steps in Withdraw SOL after unstaking.

I can't find my stake in any account #

Your stake may belong to a different Solana address. This can happen if you restored a different wallet from the one you originally used to stake.

Check your original address on solanabeach.io. If the stake belongs to another wallet, restore that wallet to access it.

FAQ #

Can I add SOL to an existing stake? #

No. Create another stake, or unstake and stake again with the new amount.
