Understand gasless transactions on Solana in Phantom

Transactions on Solana require SOL to pay network fees. With gasless transactions, you still incur the fee, but Phantom can deduct it from the token you’re using, so you can transact even when you don’t have enough SOL.

Gasless transactions are available for eligible transactions involving verified Solana tokens.

How gasless transactions work #

If your transaction is eligible, Phantom handles it automatically. There’s nothing to turn on and no settings to change.

If it isn’t eligible, you’ll need enough SOL to cover the network fee.

Swaps #

Gasless swaps are available when:

  • Your swap at least $0.30.
  • The token you receive is verified.

Gasless swaps aren’t available with a manual priority fee (tip) or exact output, where you enter the amount you want to receive instead of the amount you want to pay.

Transfers #

Gasless sends are available when:

  • You send at least $0.30.
  • The token you send is verified.
Perps deposits #

You can fund your perp balance without holding SOL. Phantom deducts the network fee from the token you deposit.

A small amount of SOL, worth approximately $0.001 to $0.20, may remain in your wallet to help cover future fees.

Fees #

Gasless transactions include a flat fee that covers the cost of submitting your transaction to Solana. Phantom deducts it from the token you’re using, so there’s no separate charge.
