Restore an existing Phantom wallet

  • Updated

If you're recovering a Phantom wallet on a new device, after reinstalling the app, or importing a wallet from another app, follow the steps in this guide.

Wallets created with a Google or Apple account

Sign in with the same Google or Apple account and your four-digit PIN to access your accounts, assets, and transaction history. Phantom restores your first account automatically. If you had additional accounts, you'll need to re-add them manually after signing in: go to your profile avatar in the upper left, then select Add AccountCreate New AccountCreate.

Browser extension

  1. Click the Phantom extension icon.
  2. Click I Already Have a WalletConnect Email Wallet.
  3. Click Apple or Google and sign in.
  4. Enter your four-digit PIN.
  5. Create a password to unlock Phantom on this device.
  6. Click Get Started.

  6. Tap Get Started.

Wallets created with a Secret Recovery Phrase

Import your original Secret Recovery Phrase to access your accounts, assets, and transaction history. Phantom restores all accounts in your wallet that have previous onchain activity.

Accounts imported using a private key

A private key gives you access to one address on one network. Importing one adds that address to Phantom as a standalone account, separate from your main wallet. Unlike a recovery phrase or Google/Apple account, private keys don't sync across devices. You'll need to re-import the key on each device you use.

Browser extension

  1. Click the Phantom extension icon.
  2. Click I Already Have a WalletImport Private Key.
  3. Enter a name for the account.
  4. Select the network.
  5. Paste your private key.
  6. Click Import.

Use the same wallet on mobile and browser extension

You can use your wallet on both the mobile app and browser extension at the same time. Restore the wallet in the same way on each platform.

FAQ

Where can I find my recovery phrase or private key?

For instructions, see View your recovery phrase or private keys in Phantom.

Can I restore my wallet without a recovery phrase?

It depends on how your wallet was created. If you used a Secret Recovery Phrase, you need it to restore access. If you used a Google or Apple account, you can restore using the same account and your four-digit PIN, or the underlying recovery phrase if you exported it.

Can I log in with an email and password?

No. Phantom does not support email and password login.
