If you need to remove wallet data from your device or fix persistent app issues, you can reset the Phantom app. Resetting the Phantom app removes all wallet data from that device and returns it to the initial state—the welcome screen, where you can restore an existing wallet or create a new one.
When you may need to reset Phantom
You may need to reset Phantom in the following situations:
- You want to remove all wallet data from your device, or clear the app's cache. Phantom does not have a traditional log out or clear cache/cookies setting, so resetting the app is an equivalent action.
- You are experiencing persistent errors, transaction failures across multiple sites, or unexpected behavior after a recent update.
- You have a Bitcoin transaction that shows as pending in Phantom, but is in fact completed on the blockchain.
- Apps are not connecting or responding correctly, and standard troubleshooting has not resolved the issue.
Before you start
Understand that Phantom does not store your wallet's credentials. Before resetting the app, you need to back up your credentials so that you can restore you wallet after:
- If you created your wallet with a Google or Apple account: Make sure you still have access to your Google or Apple account and remember your four-digit PIN. We also recommend that you back up your Secret Recovery Phrase.
- If you created your wallet with a Secret Recovery Phrase: Make sure your Secret Recovery Phrase is written down and stored in a secure, offline location.
For instructions on viewing your recovery phrase, see View your recovery phrase or private keys in Phantom.
