When you move to a new phone, your apps may transfer through iCloud or Google Drive, but Phantom does not transfer your wallet. Even if the app appears on your new phone after a backup restore, you still need to restore your wallet the first time you open it.
If you have already switched phones without backing up your recovery method first, go directly to Restore a wallet in Phantom and follow the steps for how your wallet was originally created. If you no longer have your recovery phrase or access to the Google or Apple account you used, see What if I lost my recovery phrase, private key, or PIN?
Before you switch phones
On your old phone, confirm you have the recovery method for your wallet:
- Wallet created with Google or Apple and a four-digit PIN: Make sure you can access that account and remember your PIN.
- Wallet created with a recovery phrase: Go to Settings → Security & Privacy → Show Recovery Phrase and make sure you have your 12 or 24 words stored securely offline.
Restore your wallet on the new phone
- Download Phantom from phantom.com/download.
- Open Phantom and tap I Already Have a Wallet.
- Choose the restore option that matches how you originally created your wallet. See Restore a wallet in Phantom for instructions.
