Migrate your wallet to a new phone

  • Updated

When you move to a new phone, your apps may transfer through iCloud or Google Drive, but Phantom does not transfer your wallet credentials automatically. You need to sign back in with your Google or Apple account and PIN, or import your recovery phrase, depending on how you created your wallet.

Before you start

Depending on how your wallet was created, here's what you'll need:

  • If you used a Google or Apple account, make sure you still have access to your Google or Apple account and remember your four-digit PIN.
  • If you used a Secret Recovery Phrase, have the recovery phrase written somewhere.
  • If you imported additional recovery phrases or private keys into Phantom, you'll need to have those saved somewhere safe and offline.

For instructions, see View your recovery phrase or private keys in Phantom.

Restore your wallet on the new phone

  1. Open the Phantom mobile app.
  2. On the starting screen, tap Continue with Apple or Continue with Google, or Import Wallet if you used a recovery phrase or private key.

Common issues

My wallet has become watch-only after phone migration

This can happen if your Phantom app's authentication session has expired/gone stale. Your funds are safe.

To restore access, take these steps:

  1. Have a backup or your wallet so you can restore it later:
    • If you used a Google or Apple account, make sure you still have access to your Google or Apple account and remember your four-digit PIN.
    • If you used a Secret Recovery Phrase, have the recovery phrase written somewhere.
    • If you imported additional recovery phrases or private keys into Phantom, you'll need to have those saved somewhere safe and offline.
  2. Reset Phantom by going to SettingsSecurity & PrivacyReset App. If you can't access that menu, uninstall Phantom and download it again.
  3. When Phantom reopens, restore your wallet using the original credentials:
    • If you used a Google or Apple account, sign in with the same account and, if prompted, your four-digit PIN.
    • If you used a Secret Recovery Phrase or private key, import the same recovery phrase or private key.
