Recover tokens sent to unsupported networks

  • Updated

If you sent tokens to your Phantom wallet on a network Phantom doesn't support—such as BSC, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, or Linea—your tokens aren't lost. Because these are EVM-compatible networks, you can recover them using a wallet like MetaMask or Trust Wallet.

Before you begin

Only download wallets from official websites (for example, metamask.io). Never share your private key or recovery phrase with any app or site you don't fully trust. Phantom isn't responsible for losses caused by phishing or malicious apps.

Recover your tokens

These steps use MetaMask as an example and don't endorse MetaMask. The process is similar for other EVM-compatible wallets.

  1. Export your Phantom private key. See View your recovery phrase or private key in Phantom.
  2. Identify the network your tokens were sent on (for example, BSC, Arbitrum, Avalanche).
  3. Open MetaMask. If you don't have it, download it from metamask.io.
  4. Select the network dropdown at the top. If the network isn't listed, select Add a custom network and enter its details.
  5. Select your account name → Add account or hardware walletPrivate key.
  6. Paste your Phantom private key and select Import.
  7. Once your tokens appear, send them to your exchange.
  8. Withdraw from the exchange to Phantom using a supported network.

Network fees

You'll need a small amount of the network's native token to pay network fees (gas). For example, if you received USDT on Arbitrum, you'll need ARB to move those tokens.
