Your Secret Recovery Phrase private keys are your backup credentials. Export them so you can restore your wallet on a new device, after a reset, or if you ever lose access. Even if your wallet was created with a Google or Apple account, it still has a recovery phrase.
If you imported private keys into Phantom, export those too.
Warning: Never share your Secret Recovery Phrase or private key with anyone. Anyone with access to either has full control of your wallet. Phantom Support will never ask for your recovery phrase or private key.
Recovery phrases and private keys are different. Learn more here: Difference between a Secret Recovery Phrase and a private key.

Common issues
Show Recovery Phrase is not available
This can happen for a few reasons:
- Hardware wallet. If you're using a hardware wallet such as Ledger or Saga, Phantom never exposes the recovery phrase or private keys. This is expected behavior.
- Account imported with a private key. If Show Recovery Phrase is missing but Show Private Key appears, the account was imported using a private key and doesn't have a recovery phrase associated with it. Use Show Private Key instead.
- Watch-only wallet. If your wallet is in watch-only mode, credential options may not appear or may load indefinitely. See Show Recovery Phrase keeps loading forever for steps to restore access.
Show Recovery Phrase keeps loading forever
This can happen if your Phantom app's authentication session has expired/gone stale. Your funds are safe.
To restore access, take these steps:
- Have a backup or your wallet so you can restore it later:
- If you used a Google or Apple account, make sure you still have access to your Google or Apple account and remember your four-digit PIN.
- If you used a Secret Recovery Phrase, have the recovery phrase written somewhere.
- If you imported additional recovery phrases or private keys into Phantom, you'll need to have those saved somewhere safe and offline.
- Reset Phantom by going to Settings → Security & Privacy → Reset App. If you can't access that menu, uninstall Phantom and download it again.
- When Phantom reopens, restore your wallet using the original credentials:
- If you used a Google or Apple account, sign in with the same account and, if prompted, your four-digit PIN.
- If you used a Secret Recovery Phrase or private key, import the same recovery phrase or private key.
Show Private Key is not available
This can happen to wallets that were created with a Google or Apple account but have been migrated to Phantom KMS. Use Show Recovery Phrase instead.
