View your recovery phrase or private keys in Phantom

Your Secret Recovery Phrase and private keys let you restore access to your wallet. Back them up before switching devices, reinstalling, or resetting Phantom, and store them securely offline. Wallets created with Google or Apple also have a recovery phrase.

If you imported additional private keys, back up each one separately.

Warning: Never share your Secret Recovery Phrase or private key with anyone. Anyone with access to either has full control of your wallet. Phantom Support will never ask for your recovery phrase or private key.

Mobile app #

View your recovery phrase #
  1. Tap your profile avatar in the upper left.
  2. Go to Settings > Security & Privacy > Show Recovery Phrase.
  3. If you have additional imported recovery phrase, choose which one you want to view.
  4. View or copy your recovery phrase.
View your private keys #
  1. Tap your profile avatar in the upper left.
  2. Go to Settings > Manage Accounts.
  3. Tap the three-dot icon next to an account.
  4. Tap Show Private Key. If this option isn’t available, see When private key export isn’t available.
  5. Select a network.
  6. View or copy your private key.

If a network isn't listed, make sure it's turned on in Settings > Active Networks.

Browser extension #

View your recovery phrase #
  1. Click your profile avatar in the upper left.
  2. Click Settings (the gear icon).
  3. Go to Security & Privacy > Show Recovery Phrase.
  4. If you have additional imported recovery phrase, choose which one you want to view.
  5. View or copy your recovery phrase.
View your private keys #
  1. Click your profile avatar in the upper left.
  2. Click Settings (the gear icon).
  3. Click Manage Accounts.
  4. Click the account whose private key you want to view.
  5. Click Show Private Key. If this option isn’t available, see When private key export isn’t available.
  6. Select a network.
  7. View or copy your private key.

If a network isn't listed, make sure it's turned on in Settings > Active Networks.

When private key export isn't available #

Wallets created with a Google or Apple account are powered by Phantom KMS. KMS stores your wallet keys in secure enclaves rather than on your device. Because the private key never leaves the enclave environment, the Show Private Key option is not available for these accounts. This is expected behavior.

Your wallet is still fully backed up. Use Show Recovery Phrase to export your recovery phrase as backup.

When hardware wallet credentials aren’t available #

Phantom can’t display the recovery phrase or private keys for a connected hardware wallet, such as Ledger.
