A watch-only account is a public address that you can view in Phantom without importing the wallet's credentials or controlling its assets. This can be useful for following a friend's wallet, a trader's public address, or a wallet you're watching for payments.
You can view activity and assets for a watch-only account, but you can't send crypto, submit transactions, or connect to apps, unless you import the wallet using its Secret Recovery Phrase or private key.
Watch-only accounts appear in your account list with an eye icon and a "You’re watching this account" banner.
Add a watch-only account
Mobile app
- On the Home tab, tap your account name above your balance.
- Tap the + button in the upper right.
- Tap Watch Address.
- Choose the network.
- Enter a name and paste the wallet's public address.
- Tap Import.
Browser extension
- Click your profile avatar in the upper left.
- Click Add Account (the plus icon).
- Click Watch Address.
- Choose the network.
- Enter a name and paste the wallet's public address.
- Click Import.
Remove a watch-only account
Mobile app
- On the Home tab, tap your account name above your balance.
- Tap the three-dot icon next to the watch-only account.
- Tap Remove Account.
Browser extension
- Click your profile avatar in the upper left.
- Click Manage Accounts (the pencil icon).
- Click the watch-only account.
- Click Remove Account.
If the watch-only account is your only account in the current wallet, the Remove Account option is not available.
Restore full access to a watch-only account
If you have the Secret Recovery Phrase or private key for a watch-only account, you can import it for full access. See Import an existing wallet into Phantom.
