To help keep your crypto assets secure, Phantom includes a lock feature. You can either lock the app manually or enable auto-lock to secure your wallet after a period of inactivity. On mobile, Phantom relies on your device’s lock and authentication settings.
Locking Phantom prevents others from accessing your wallet if you leave your device unattended. You’ll need to authenticate again to regain access.
Manually lock Phantom
Browser extension
- Click your profile avatar in the upper-left corner.
- On the Settings screen, scroll to the bottom and click Lock Wallet.
Mobile app
On mobile, there's no manual lock option. You can instead lock your device using your usual method (side button or screen timeout), or quit the app from the app switcher.
Set Phantom to auto-lock after inactivity
You can set Phantom to lock automatically after a period of inactivity.
- Select your profile avatar in the upper-left corner.
- Go to Settings → Security & Privacy.
- Access the auto-lock settings:
- In the browser extension, click Auto-Lock Timer and choose a time from Immediately up to 1 day.
- In the mobile app, tap Require authentication and choose a time from Immediately up to 1 day.
After the timer expires, Phantom will prompt you to authenticate:
- In the browser extension, enter your password.
- In the mobile app, use your device’s authentication method (such as Face ID, fingerprint, or passcode).
