If you’re seeing “Not Enough SOL,” “Not Enough ETH,” or a similar message, your wallet doesn’t have enough of the network’s native token to pay the transaction fee.
Every blockchain transaction requires a small network fee. The fee goes to the validators that process transactions, not to Phantom. Phantom doesn’t set, receive, or control these fees.
You always pay the fee in the network’s native token, such as SOL on Solana or ETH on Ethereum. You can’t pay network fees with USDC, stablecoins, or other tokens, even if you hold them on the same network. For more information, see Understanding network fees.
Tip: If you only need to complete one or two transactions, you usually don’t need much of the native token. The suggested balances below are intended to cover several transactions.
Why you’re seeing this message
You have some native tokens, but not enough
If you’re trying to send your entire balance, remember that the network fee is charged separately. Reduce the amount slightly so enough of the native token remains to pay the fee. Phantom shows the estimated fee before you confirm the transaction.
You have none of the native token
If your balance of the native token is zero, you won’t be able to send, swap, or bridge assets on that network.
To continue, you’ll need to receive a small amount of the native token from another wallet or an exchange. You can’t swap your existing tokens for the native token without first having enough to pay the network fee.
After it arrives, try the transaction again.
Suggested balances for network fees
These amounts should have you covered for multiple transactions. You may need more native tokens depending on network congestion, transaction type, or smart contract complexity.
| Network | Suggested amount |
|---|---|
| Solana | 0.02 SOL (some swaps and sends can be gasless) |
| Ethereum | 0.002 ETH |
| Bitcoin | 500 satoshis |
| HyperEVM | 0.01 HYPE |
| Base | 0.002 ETH |
| Polygon | 0.5 POL |
| Sui | 0.05 SUI |
| Monad | 0.002 MON |
"Not Enough SOL"
Solana uses SOL to pay for transactions. You also need a small amount of SOL to keep token accounts rent-exempt, which adds to the minimum you need to hold.
To add SOL, buy it through third-party providers in Phantom or transfer it from an exchange or another wallet.
Note: Certain transactions on Solana in Phantom can be gasless, meaning your transaction will go through even if your SOL balance is too low. See About gasless transactions on Solana for details.
"Not Enough ETH" (Ethereum)
Ethereum uses ETH to pay network fees. The amount required varies depending on network activity and the type of transaction.
Add a small amount of ETH on Ethereum, then try the transaction again.
"Not Enough ETH" (Base)
Base uses ETH to pay network fees, but it must be ETH on the Base network. ETH held on Ethereum can’t be used to pay Base network fees.
Add ETH on Base, then try the transaction again.
"Not Enough POL"
Polygon uses POL to pay network fees. Add a small amount of POL, then try the transaction again.
"Not Enough BTC"
Bitcoin transaction fees are paid in BTC (satoshis). The amount required depends on current network activity.
You can check current fees at mempool.space.
"Not Enough SUI"
Sui uses SUI to pay network fees. Add a small amount of SUI, then try the transaction again.
"Not Enough MON"
Monad uses MON to pay network fees. Add a small amount of MON, then try the transaction again.
"Not Enough HYPE"
HyperEVM uses HYPE to pay network fees. HYPE isn’t available through Phantom’s buy providers, so you’ll need to receive it from another wallet or an exchange before trying again.
