Why am I seeing unknown usernames or unexpected accounts in Phantom?

If you’re seeing unknown usernames or unexpected view-only accounts, it could be a sign of an imported or compromised wallet.

Cause

This can happen if your recovery phrase was shared or compromised, or if you imported private keys that are also being used by someone else. These situations can cause unfamiliar accounts or usernames to appear in your wallet.

What you can do

Follow these steps to secure your wallet:

  1. Back up your current wallet by exporting your recovery phrase and any imported private keys. Learn how to view your recovery phrase or private keys in Phantom
  2. Reset the Phantom app: Go to SettingsSecurity & PrivacyReset App.
  3. Restore your wallet:
    • Only restore using a recovery phrase that you generated yourself.
    • Only import private keys that you exclusively own.
