Unknown usernames or unexpected accounts in Phantom

If you're seeing unknown usernames or unexpected view-only accounts in your wallet, it could be a sign of an imported or compromised recovery phrase.

Cause

  • Your recovery phrase was shared or compromised.
  • You imported private keys that someone else also controls.

When multiple people have access to the same recovery phrase or private key, their usernames and accounts can appear in your wallet.

Secure your wallet

  1. Back up your current wallet by exporting your recovery phrase and any imported private keys. See View your recovery phrase or private key in Phantom.
  2. Reset the Phantom app: go to SettingsSecurity & PrivacyReset App.
  3. Restore your wallet using only the following:
    • A recovery phrase you generated yourself.
    • Private keys that only you control.
