Why do I see unknown usernames or unexpected accounts in Phantom?

If you see unknown usernames or unexpected view-only accounts in your wallet, it could be a sign of an imported or compromised recovery phrase.

Cause

  • Your recovery phrase was shared or compromised.
  • You imported private keys that someone else controls.

When multiple people have access to the same recovery phrase or private key, their usernames and accounts can appear in your wallet.

Secure your wallet

  1. Back up your current wallet by exporting your recovery phrase and any imported private keys SettingsSecurity & Privacy Show Recovery Phrase and Show Private Key.
  2. Reset the Phantom app: go to SettingsSecurity & PrivacyReset App.
  3. Restore your wallet using only the following:
    • A recovery phrase you created yourself.
    • Private keys that only you control.
