An unfamiliar token or collectible appeared in Phantom

  • Updated

This article covers scam tokens, spam airdrops, and unfamiliar tokens or collectibles you didn’t purchase or weren't expecting.

The vast majority of unsolicited airdrops are scams. They often claim you can earn rewards or unlock value, but these promises are fake. Because wallet addresses are public on the blockchain, scammers can send spam the same way spammers send unwanted email.

Receiving these tokens doesn't compromise your wallet. They typically have no real market value, and you haven’t lost or gained anything by receiving them.

Warning: Never click links or open websites mentioned in airdropped collectibles or unfamiliar tokens. These sites often ask you to connect your wallet, and doing so can allow scammers to drain your funds or approve malicious transactions.

The safest action is to report the token or collectible as spam.

  1. Open the token or collectible.
  2. Select MoreReport as Spam.

Phantom hides the item and uses your report to improve future spam detection.
