Some transactions on Solana require a small amount of SOL to pay network fees. If you don’t have enough SOL, Phantom may be able to complete the transaction without it.
Instead of charging the network fee separately, Phantom deducts the fee from the token you’re sending, swapping, or depositing. This feature is available only for eligible transactions involving verified Solana tokens. See Understanding verified and unverified tokens in Phantom.
How gasless transactions work
Gasless transactions happen automatically when your transaction is eligible. You don’t need to turn the feature on or change any settings.
If your transaction isn’t eligible, you’ll need enough SOL in your wallet to pay the network fee.
Gasless swaps
When you don’t have enough SOL to pay network fees, Phantom automatically uses a gasless swap if all of the following are true:
- The swap is worth at least $0.30.
- The token you’re swapping into is verified.
- You’re using the standard swap flow.
Gasless swaps aren’t available in the following cases:
- If you set a manual priority fee (tip).
- If you use the exact output, where you enter the amount you want to receive instead of the amount you want to pay.
Gasless sends
When you don’t have enough SOL to pay network fees, Phantom automatically uses a gasless send if all of the following are true:
- The transfer is worth at least $0.30.
- The token you’re sending is verified.
Gasless deposits into perps
You can deposit funds into Phantom perps without holding SOL.
Phantom deducts the network fee from the token you’re depositing. A small amount of SOL (approximately $0.001 to $0.20) may remain in your wallet as a buffer.
Fees
For eligible gasless transactions, Phantom deducts a flat fee from the token used in the transaction. The fee covers the cost of submitting the transaction to the Solana network.
The fee is included in the transaction and isn’t charged separately.
