Reset the password in the Phantom browser extension

  • Updated

If you’ve forgotten the password for the Phantom browser extension, you can reset it by restoring your wallet with your original credentials. This password only unlocks Phantom in your current browser. Resetting it does not affect your wallet, recovery phrase, private keys, or funds.

Step 1: Back up your wallet credentials

Before resetting the extension, make sure you have the credentials you originally used to create your wallet:

  • Google or Apple wallet: Access to your Google or Apple account and, if set before, your four-digit PIN.
  • Recovery phrase wallet: Your 12- or 24-word Secret Recovery Phrase.
  • Additional imported wallets: If you imported additional recovery phrases or private keys, have those ready as well. You’ll need to import them again after the reset.

If you need to find your credentials first, see View your recovery phrase or private keys in Phantom.

Step 2: Reset the extension password

  1. Click the Phantom browser extension icon.
  2. Click Forgot passwordReset & wipe app.
  3. After Phantom reopens in a new tab, click I Already Have a Wallet.
  4. Restore your wallet using your original credentials.
  5. Create a new password for the browser extension.
