Missing accounts after importing my wallet

  • Updated

If some accounts are missing after restoring your wallet, they're often still recoverable. In most cases, the import succeeded—but Phantom didn't automatically add every account.

Accounts from recovery phrase wallets

When you import a recovery phrase, Phantom restores accounts with onchain activity (swaps, sends, receives), from oldest to newest. Accounts with no transactions or balance may not appear automatically.

To add them manually, select your profile avatar → Add AccountCreate New AccountCreate. Repeat until your expected accounts appear.

If accounts still don't appear

If you're sure the recovery phrase is correct, reset Phantom and import again to trigger a full rescan. See Reset your Phantom app.

If accounts still don't appear after a reset:

  • This may not be the recovery phrase for the wallet you expected.
  • The wallet may use a derivation path Phantom doesn't support (see the following section).

Seeing different accounts

If you import a recovery phrase and see accounts you don't recognize, one of the following is happening:

  • This isn't the right recovery phrase. Recovery phrases are cryptographically exact. If the accounts are different, the phrase is different—even if it looks correct. Check for typos, missing words, or words in the wrong order.
  • The phrase is correct, but your original wallet generated accounts differently. Some wallet apps create accounts in ways that Phantom can't replicate. The phrase works, but Phantom shows different accounts.

To confirm, follow these steps:

  1. Import the same recovery phrase into the wallet app you originally used (for example, MetaMask, Solflare, or Backpack).
  2. Check whether your expected accounts appear there.

If your accounts appear in the original wallet but not in Phantom, you'll need to continue using that wallet app to access those accounts.

If your accounts don't appear in the original wallet either, the recovery phrase isn't the one you expected.

Accounts from seedless wallets (Apple/Google login)

When you restore on a new device or after reinstalling, Phantom retrieves only your original account. If you had multiple accounts, you may see only one at first—but the others aren't lost.

To add your other accounts, select your profile avatar → Add AccountCreate New AccountCreate. Repeat until your expected accounts appear.

You can remove any extra accounts you don't need.

Accounts from private key wallets

A private key restores only one account. Accounts imported by private key won't reappear when you import a recovery phrase—you need to import each one again: select your profile avatar → Add AccountImport Private Key → follow the prompts. Repeat for each private key account.

Accounts from Ledger wallets

Ledger accounts aren't restored automatically. After reinstalling Phantom, reconnect your Ledger: select your profile avatar → Add AccountConnect Hardware Wallet → follow the prompts.
