If you imported your wallet and notice that some accounts are missing, don’t worry—they’re likely still recoverable. Phantom automatically restores accounts with transaction history, but accounts with no balance or activity might need to be restored manually.
Why some accounts don’t show up after import
When you enter your secret recovery phrase, Phantom attempts to detect all associated accounts. However:
- Only accounts with transaction history are restored automatically.
- Accounts with no balance or no on-chain activity may not appear during import.
- If you used a private key to import a wallet, that key is not tied to your current recovery phrase.
Option 1: Manually add missing accounts
You can recover an undetected account by manually adding accounts one by one. If the missing account was part of the original set derived from your secret recovery phrase, it will appear as you add new accounts.
To do this:
- Open the Phantom extension or mobile app.
- Select your avatar in the top-left corner.
- Select Add Wallet (on mobile) or Add / Connect Wallet (on extension).
- Select Create New Account.
- Review and rename the new account if needed.
- Select Create.
- Repeat the process until the account you’re looking for appears.
Tip: Send a small amount of SOL to each new account. This will help Phantom detect the account automatically in the future.
Option 2: Look up the missing wallet address
If you’re unsure of the address for the missing account:
- Check the transaction history of a wallet that previously sent funds to it.
- Look in your exchange transaction history for past deposit addresses.
This can help confirm the address exists and was part of your wallet.
Option 3: Reset Phantom and re-import your wallet
If accounts still aren't appearing:
- Make sure your secret recovery phrase is written down correctly and backed up.
- Send a small amount of tokens to each account you would like to restore.
- Check blockchain explorers to confirm your transactions went through.
- In Phantom, go to Settings > Security & Privacy > Reset App.
- Re-import your wallet using your secret recovery phrase.
Phantom will re-scan and detect all accounts with on-chain activity.
If you're using a Ledger wallet
If you previously had a Ledger wallet connected to Phantom, it won't be automatically recovered when you import the recovery phrase. To reconnect your Ledger:
- Open Phantom.
- Select your avatar > Add Wallet (on mobile) or Add / Connect Wallet (on extension).
- Select Connect Hardware Wallet.
- Follow the on-screen prompts.
Note: Phantom does not support SUI using a ledger so you will not see your SUI address in your address list.
Warning: Never import your Ledger recovery phrase directly into Phantom. This reduces your wallet’s security and does not restore your Ledger accounts.
If you imported from another wallet provider
Some wallets use different derivation paths. If your accounts don’t appear:
- Check if the original wallet used a different derivation path.
- Phantom may not support every path.
- Try importing the same recovery phrase into the original wallet provider.
Phantom supports 12–24 word recovery phrases based on the BIP-39 word list, which is a common standard used by many crypto wallets. If you’ve used other wallets in the past, try any recovery phrases you may have saved—they could restore the missing account.
If the wallet still doesn’t appear, you may be using the wrong recovery phrase.
