How to get started with Phantom Cash

Phantom Cash lets you create a Cash account in the Phantom mobile app to hold, send, and swap using CASH, a USD-pegged stablecoin on Solana.

When you activate Phantom Cash, you create your Cash account on Solana and can start using onchain features right away. If you’re in the US (except NY/AK), you can also enable offchain features like adding money with a bank account, debit card, or Apple Pay, withdrawing to a bank account, and using the Phantom Cash debit card. Offchain features require identity verification (KYC).

Before you begin

To use Phantom Cash, you’ll need the following:

• The Phantom mobile app with a Solana account.
• A Phantom username (your @handle). If you don’t have one, Phantom prompts you to claim it during Cash onboarding.
• A US address (except NY/AK) if you want to use offchain features.

Activate your Cash account

Activating Phantom Cash creates your Cash account, which is a self-custodial wallet on Solana that always holds CASH. Once activated, it appears in the Cash tab.

1. Open the Phantom mobile app.
2. Tap the Cash tab (looks like a credit card).
3. On the welcome screen, tap Enter, then Done.

After activation, your Cash account is ready to use:

• Swap between tokens on Solana and your Cash account.
• Send money to Phantom usernames or Solana wallets.
• Receive transfers from Phantom users or Solana wallets holding CASH.

Enable bank features and Stripe funding (US only)

If you’re in the US (except NY/AK), you can add and withdraw money using offchain rails, including:

• Adding money with Stripe (linked bank account, debit card, or Apple Pay).
• Depositing money to your Cash account using your routing and account numbers.
• Withdrawing to a US bank account.

To enable these features, you’ll need to complete identity verification (KYC):

1. In the Cash tab, next to Verify Your Account, tap Start.
2. Enter your email and phone number. You’ll receive a one-time code.
3. Enter your details: full name, US address, date of birth, and Social Security number.
4. Submit your ID and complete the face scan.

KYC approval takes some time. We’ll notify you when it’s complete.

Note: Identity verification in this section applies only to Phantom Cash. If you’re buying crypto through the Buy button in Phantom, you’ll need to complete identity verification separately with third-party providers (for example, MoonPay, OnMeta, or Robinhood).

Don't want to complete KYC?

KYC is optional. You can skip it and still use Phantom Cash onchain. You can hold, swap, send, and receive funds without verifying your identity.

To skip KYC, tap Skip on the Let’s verify your identity screen.

To complete KYC later, tap Verify Your Account, or tap the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner, then tap Complete Enrollment.

Activate the Phantom Cash debit card (US only)

After your identity verification is approved, you can activate your Phantom Cash debit card. Activating the card links your Cash account to Bridge (our payments partner) so you can spend your balance anywhere Visa is accepted.

1. Open the Cash tab when you see the Your card is ready prompt.
2. Tap Continue.
3. Review your card details, then tap Continue.
4. Tap I Agree to accept the card terms.
5. Tap Create Card to finish setup.

If you dismissed the activation screen, return to the Cash tab within 24 hours of KYC approval to finish setup. If the prompt no longer appears, you may need to reverify.
