Get started with Cash

Cash is a set of financial tools built into your Phantom wallet. It lets you hold, send, receive, and spend money in one place—your Cash account—powered by crypto and built for everyday use.

Access your Cash account

If you have a Phantom username, you have a Cash account. To access it, open Phantom on iOS or Android, then tap the Cash tab (the credit card icon) in the bottom navigation, or tap Cash Balance on the Home tab.

Verify your identity (US only)

Identity verification (KYC) is required to access bank deposits, bank withdrawals, direct deposit, and the Phantom debit card. It is available in the US only, except NY. Identity verification for Cash is handled by Link, our identity verification partner. Phantom receives your verification status, not your identity documents. We do not store any personal information except your email.

  1. Open the Cash tab, or tap the Cash section on the Home tab.
  2. Next to Verify Your Account, tap Start.
  3. Enter your US phone number and verify it.
  4. Provide your full name and US address.
  5. Provide your date of birth and Social Security number.
  6. Submit a government-issued ID and complete a face scan.

You'll be notified when verification is complete.

Activate your Phantom debit card (US only)

After your identity verification is approved, you can activate your virtual Phantom debit card to spend your balance anywhere Visa is accepted.

  1. Open the Cash tab.
  2. Tap the Your card is ready prompt.
  3. Tap Continue.
  4. Review your card details, then tap Continue.
  5. Tap I Agree to accept the card terms.
  6. Tap Create Card to finish setup.

If you dismissed the activation screen, return to the Cash tab within 24 hours of approval to finish setup. If the prompt no longer appears, you may need to redo KYC.

Common issues

My identity verification is pending

Verification generally takes a few minutes. In some cases it may take longer while additional checks are completed. You will receive a follow-up email once the process is complete. You do not need to take any action while verification is in progress.

I want to change the phone number used for identity verification

You'll need to delete your existing Link account and restart the verification process with the correct number.

  1. Open app.link.com/settings.
  2. Enter the email address you used for identity verification in Cash.
  3. Delete your Link account.
  4. Restart the identity verification in Phantom and enter the correct phone number.

I want to delete my identity documents

  1. Open Delete information saved with Link.
  2. Click the link in the Delete identity documents section.
  3. Enter the email address you used for identity verification in Cash.
  4. Link will send you an email.
  5. Click the link in the email to confirm deletion.

  2. Enter the email address you used for identity verification in Cash.
  3. Follow the prompts.

I can’t complete identity verification

If you’re having trouble verifying your identity, the issue may not be limited to uploading your ID. Common causes include:

  • Blurry, dark, or cropped images
  • Expired or unsupported ID documents
  • File format issues (for example, unsupported file types)
  • Camera and microphone permission issues
  • Mismatched personal information

I failed identity verification multiple times and can't retry

If you no longer have the option to retry, you will not be able to access Cash offchain features. Contact Link support at support.link.com.
