How to spend with your Phantom Cash debit card

  • Updated

One way to spend your Cash account balance is with the Phantom Cash debit card. Use the card online, in apps, and in stores wherever Visa, Apple Pay, or Google Pay are accepted.

The Phantom Cash debit card is a virtual, stablecoin-linked Visa card. When you make a payment, Bridge, Phantom’s payments partner, draws funds from your Cash account and converts them to USD so the merchant is paid like a standard Visa transaction.

Key things to know

  • Availability: The Phantom Cash debit card is available in the US, except New York and Alaska. The card becomes available after you complete identity verification (KYC) in the Phantom app. Identity verification is handled by Stripe.
  • Spending limits: The Phantom Cash debit card has a daily spending limit of $2,000. You can request an increase to $5,000 per day, subject to review.
  • PIN: After activation, the Phantom Cash debit card does not have a PIN set by default. Some merchants may still prompt you to enter a PIN during checkout. In many cases, you can skip PIN entry at the terminal and continue the payment. If the terminal requires a PIN, open the Phantom app, go to the Cash tab, tap your card, tap Change PIN, set a PIN, then retry the payment.
  • Authorization holds: Some merchants, such as gas stations, ride-hailing services, hotels, or restaurants, may place a temporary authorization hold on your card. This hold can be higher than the final purchase amount to account for tips, adjustments, or variable charges. Any unused portion of the hold is automatically returned to your Cash account once the transaction settles.

Pay with your Phantom Cash debit card

Pay online, in apps, and in stores

After you activate your card and add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, you can use it like any other Visa card.

  • Online and in apps: Enter your virtual card details from the Cash tab at checkout.
  • In stores: Tap to pay with Apple Wallet or Google Wallet where accepted.

If a card reader asks for a PIN and you have not set one yet, try pressing Enter to skip. If the terminal does not allow this, cancel the payment and set a PIN in the app before retrying. If available, selecting Credit on the card reader may also bypass the PIN prompt.

When you pay with your Phantom Cash debit card, the transfer from your Cash account to Bridge’s debit card smart contract appears onchain. Merchant names, purchased items, and receipts do not appear onchain.

Tip: Use Apple Pay or Google Pay in stores to avoid PIN prompts at most terminals.

Pay by entering the card details manually

You can also pay online by manually entering your Phantom Cash debit card details.

To view your card details, open the Cash tab, tap your card, then tap Show card details. Copy the card number and other required information, then enter it at checkout.
