About closing your Cash account

  • Updated

Closing your Phantom Cash account is permanent. Once closed, your Cash account cannot be reopened.

How to close your Cash account

Self-service on mobile (seedless wallets only)

If your wallet was created with a Google or Apple account, you can close your Cash account through the Phantom mobile app as part of deleting your wallet. See Delete your Phantom wallet for step-by-step instructions.

During the flow, if your Cash account has a balance, Phantom will give you the option to transfer it out—pick an address you'll have access to in the future.

Via support ticket

If you are on the browser extension or cannot complete the self-service flow, submit a support ticket through Settings → Help & Support in the mobile app or the Chat button on this page. Let support know you want to close your Cash account and delete your entire Phantom wallet. Support will confirm what will be deleted and let you know when it is done.

Before you close your Cash account

Empty your Cash account by transferring your balance out to an address you'll have access to in the future. If you applied for offchain features before (US-only), you can withdraw your balance to a US bank account.

What gets deleted

When your Cash account is closed, the following are permanently removed:

  • Your Bridge account, which powers bank deposits, withdrawals, and the Phantom Cash debit card (if you applied for offchain features)
  • Your virtual account routing and account numbers (if you applied for offchain features)
  • Your Phantom Cash debit card (if you activated it)

What does not get deleted

The following are not removed when your Cash account is closed:

  • Your wallet addresses and transaction history. These remain on the blockchain permanently and cannot be erased.
  • Your username. If you delete your wallet and later re-create one with the same email, your username remains reserved to that email.
  • Your KYC data. KYC data is held by Link, not by Phantom or Bridge. Closing your Cash account does not delete your Link account or your KYC data. To request deletion of your Link account, go to app.link.com/settings. Note that Stripe may retain certain data in accordance with their own data retention policies even after your Link account is deleted.
