If you’re trying to delete, disable, or close your Phantom wallet the same way you might delete a Google or Apple account, it’s important to understand that Phantom works differently.
Phantom is a self-custodial wallet. Your wallet and accounts are not stored on Phantom’s servers. Instead, Phantom is an interface that lets you access your accounts directly on the blockchain. Because blockchain data is permanent, wallets and accounts cannot be deleted the way a traditional user profile can.
How to delete a wallet created using a Google or Apple account
If you created a seedless wallet (sometimes called an email wallet) by signing in with Google or Apple, you can delete that wallet directly in the Phantom app.
Tip: Consider backing up your recovery phrase in Settings → Security & Privacy → Show Recovery Phrase so you have an additional backup option before deleting your wallet.
- Select your profile avatar in the upper-left corner.
- Go to Settings → Security & Privacy.
- Select Delete Wallet.
- Follow the prompts to confirm.
- Uninstall the Phantom app from all your devices.
After you delete your wallet:
- Phantom disconnects the wallet from your email login, so it can’t be restored using your email or PIN.
- Your Phantom username remains associated with you, but your profile’s privacy setting switches to Invisible, which prevents others from sending funds to your old addresses.
- Phantom clears any public addresses tied to your profile, although those addresses still exist permanently on the blockchain.
How to delete a wallet if you have a Phantom Cash account
If the Delete Wallet option is unavailable, it means there is an active Cash account linked to your username. Wallet deletion is blocked until the Cash account is closed.
To continue, complete the following steps:
- Empty your Cash balance by sending funds to a Solana wallet from the Cash tab, or by swapping out of Cash into a Solana-based token.
- Download your app logs by going to Settings → Security & Privacy → Download App Logs, then save the file to your device.
- Contact Phantom Support and attach the log file when prompted. The support team will close your Cash account and notify you when you can retry deleting your wallet.
How to delete a wallet if the Delete Wallet option is missing
If you don’t see the Delete Wallet option, the wallet was likely created using a recovery phrase rather than a Google or Apple account. In this case, uninstall the Phantom app from your devices.
If you believe the wallet was originally created using Google or Apple, try the following steps:
- Reset the Phantom app by going to Settings → Security & Privacy → Reset App.
- Sign in again using your Google or Apple account and your 4-digit PIN.
After signing in correctly, the Delete Wallet option should appear.
How to delete a wallet created using a recovery phrase
If you created your wallet using a recovery phrase, uninstall the Phantom app from all your devices. The wallet and its addresses will continue to exist permanently on the blockchain.
Tip: Consider backing up your recovery phrase in Settings → Security & Privacy → Show Recovery Phrase in case you want to restore access to the wallet in the future.
Security reminder: Never share your Secret Recovery Phrase with anyone, not even Phantom support. Always store your recovery phrase in a secure, offline location.
