Why you no longer need a PIN to sign in

If you created your Phantom wallet with a Google or Apple account, you may notice that you are no longer asked to enter your four-digit PIN when signing in on a new device or restoring your wallet. This is expected. We have upgraded the security system that protects your wallet.

What changed?

We migrated email wallets to a new, more secure key management system—Phantom KMS. This system uses your Google or Apple account to protect your wallet directly. A separate PIN is no longer needed.

The migration happens automatically. You do not need to take any action.

Is my wallet still secure?

Yes. Your wallet is protected by your Google or Apple account, the same login you have always used. Phantom cannot access your wallet or your private keys.

We recommend making sure your Google or Apple account has a strong password and two-factor authentication enabled.

What happened to my PIN?

Your PIN was part of the previous backup system. Now that your wallet has been migrated, the PIN is no longer used. You will not be asked to enter it again.

Do I need to do anything?

No. The migration is automatic. Continue using Phantom as usual. If you previously exported your Secret Recovery Phrase, it remains valid as a backup.

Can I add additional security to my account?

We plan to let you add multiple factors to secure your account, giving you more control over how your wallet is protected. We will update this article as these options become available.

What if I am having trouble signing in?
