How to report a scam

  • Updated

If you’ve seen a scam or suspicious activity, reporting helps protect the Phantom community and may even improve the chances of funds being frozen or recovered.

You can report anything that looks suspicious or malicious, such as:

  • Fake Phantom Support accounts on social media
  • Phishing websites or scam links
  • Suspicious airdrops or fake NFTs
  • Malicious extensions or apps
  • Impersonators using Phantom branding

Gather details before reporting

Collect as much information as you can, including:

  • Scam messages or links
  • The scammer’s wallet address or username
  • Transaction IDs
  • A short description of what happened

The more detail you share, the easier it is for us, the community, and law enforcement to act.

Where to report

Chainabuse

Submit the incident for public tracking at chainabuse.com.

Law enforcement

  1. File a police report with your local department.
  2. Submit a complaint with the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center: ic3.gov/CrimeInfo/Cryptocurrency.
    • The IC3 Recovery Asset Team reported a 66% success rate in freezing or recovering stolen crypto funds in 2024 (about $559.8 million).
    • Filing ensures there’s an official record, and investigators may work with exchanges to freeze assets.

Tax authority

Check with your local tax agency, because if you've been scammed, your losses may be deductible.

Important: Phantom is a non-custodial wallet, so we can't recover lost funds. But your report helps others stay safe.
