How to report a scam

  • Updated

If you think you’ve been targeted by a scam — or just spotted suspicious activity — here’s how to report it.

Report to Phantom Support

To report a scam directly to Phantom:

  1. Go to help.phantom.com.
  2. Select the Chat button in the bottom-right corner.
  3. Type "speak with a human" or "speak to an agent."
  4. Follow the prompts to submit a support ticket. In your report, include:
    • Any suspicious messages or links.
    • Screenshots, if available.
    • The wallet address or username of the scammer.
    • A brief description of what happened.

After you submit your ticket, you’ll receive a confirmation number. A Phantom Support agent will follow up with you by email.

Warning: Phantom Support will never DM you or email you first. We only respond after you submit a ticket through our official Help Center.

What to report

You can report any of the following:

  • Fake Phantom Support messages on social media.
  • Phishing websites or scam links.
  • Suspicious token airdrops or fake NFT drops.
  • Malicious browser extensions or mobile apps.
  • Impersonation accounts using Phantom branding.

If you've already been scammed

Even if you’ve already shared info or sent funds:

  • Submit a ticket through the chatbot on help.phantom.com so our team can document the case and guide you through safety steps.
  • You may also report the incident to:
    • Chainabuse: chainabuse.com – community-based scam reporting.
    • Local authorities: Reporting may help in some jurisdictions.
    • Tax authorities: Losses may be deductible, depending on your location.
  • Additionally, platforms like Chainalysis offer advanced tracking for stolen funds, though these services may involve fees.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of crypto and the non-custodial design of Phantom, funds lost to scams usually can’t be recovered. But your report helps others stay safe.

How to protect yourself going forward

  • Never share your secret recovery phrase or private keys.
  • Block direct messages from strangers on platforms like Discord or Twitter.
  • Double-check URLs before connecting your wallet.
  • Bookmark our security best practices to stay informed.

Common signs of a scam

  • Unsolicited DMs claiming to be from Phantom Support.
  • Messages asking for your secret recovery phrase, PIN, or private keys.
  • Links to websites that aren’t official Phantom domains.
  • Urgent or threatening language, such as “Act now or lose access.”
