You can send tokens from Phantom to wallet addresses, exchanges, Phantom usernames, or domain names.
| Destination | Example | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Wallet address |
7xKXt... (Solana), 0x3f5... (Ethereum) |
Recipient address on same network |
| Phantom username | @phantom |
Recipient has Phantom username |
| Domain name |
solana.sol, vault.eth
|
Domain resolves to valid address |
| Exchange | Coinbase, Binance, Kraken | Exchange supports token and network |
Requirements
Every transaction requires a small amount of the network's native token to pay network fees (gas). Make sure you have enough of the following:
- Solana: SOL
- Ethereum: ETH
- Base: ETH
- Polygon: POL
- Bitcoin: BTC
- Sui: SUI
- Monad: MON
- HyperEVM: HYPE
If you don't have enough gas, the transaction will fail. See About network fees (gas) for recommended minimum balances.
Send to an address, username, or domain
- Select Send.
- Select the token you want to send. For non-native tokens, check the network icon to confirm you’re on the correct network.
- Paste the recipient's address, username, or domain name.
- Enter the amount.
- Select Next, review the details, then select Send.
If you're sending to a new address, Phantom may warn you that the wallet has no balance or transaction history. You can continue if you're sure the address is correct.
Send to an exchange
Sending CASH tokens? See Send money using Phantom Cash instead.
- Confirm the exchange supports the token and network. Some exchanges support a network but not every token on it.
- In Phantom, select Send and choose your token.
- Confirm you've selected the same network in both Phantom and the exchange.
- Copy and paste the deposit address from the exchange. Never type it manually.
- If the exchange requires a memo or tag, enter it in the Memo field.
- Review the details, then select Send.
Track your transaction
Go to Recent Activity and select your transaction. Choose the option to view it in a blockchain explorer.
Best practices
- Verify network compatibility: Confirm the destination supports both the token and the network.
- Check address format: Solana addresses look different from Ethereum addresses. EVM networks (Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Monad, HyperEVM) share the same address format, but the network still matters—ETH on Ethereum isn't the same as ETH on Base.
- Never type addresses manually: Always copy and paste, or select from recent addresses.
- Send a test amount first: When sending to an exchange or new address, send a small amount to confirm it arrives.
- Understand that mistakes are permanent: Sending to the wrong address, token, or network can result in irreversible loss.
Troubleshooting
My tokens haven't arrived at the exchange
See What to do if tokens sent to an exchange haven't arrived.
Phantom shows "Invalid format"
The address format doesn't match the selected network. Verify you're sending on the correct network.
FAQ
Can Phantom recover my tokens?
No. Phantom is non-custodial and can't reverse or retrieve transactions.
What if the exchange requires a memo but Phantom doesn't show the field?
Phantom only shows the memo field for tokens that support memos. If the field doesn't appear, the token doesn't require one.
