Unable to swap a token due to low liquidity

If you can’t swap a token in Phantom, there may not be enough liquidity available to complete the trade. Tokens with little or no liquidity may also be unable to display a price in Phantom.

This article explains how to check whether the token can be traded elsewhere and what to do if it can’t.

Check liquidity on another platform #

Some decentralized exchanges have access to different trading pools than Phantom. If a token can’t be swapped in Phantom, it may still be tradable elsewhere.

Use services such as Jupiter, Uniswap, Raydium, or Orca. You can also check Solscan or Etherscan to review pool size, recent trades, and trading volume.

If the swap fails on multiple platforms, liquidity likely doesn't exist anywhere for that token.

Reduce your trade size #

Large swaps can exceed available liquidity or trigger extreme price impact. Try swapping a smaller amount. See Adjust your swap settings in Phantom for more on price impact.

Wait and retry #

If the token is new or trading activity increases, liquidity may improve over time. Try the swap again later.

If the token has no liquidity anywhere #

If you can’t find an active trading pool on multiple platforms, the token may no longer be tradable.

  • The token was a scam from the start.
  • The project was abandoned.
  • Liquidity was removed by the creators.

In these cases, the tokens cannot be converted. Before interacting further with an unfamiliar token, check its contract address.
