Verify your identity for Cash
Identity verification (KYC) lets you access Cash features that require a verified identity. The features available depend on where you live.
| Region | Features that require verification |
|---|---|
| United States, except New York | Stripe funding, direct bank deposits and withdrawals, and the Phantom debit card |
| European Union member states | Stripe funding |
Link, Stripe’s service, handles identity verification for Cash. You’ll first connect Phantom with Link, then provide the information requested for your account.
Start verification #
You can start verification in either of the following ways:
- When adding Cash: On the Home tab, tap Deposit > Add Cash. Enter an amount, and continue with Stripe selected under Delivery. Phantom will prompt you to verify your identity when needed.
- From your profile: On the Home tab, tap your profile avatar in the upper left, then go to Profile > Manage > Verify my profile.
If the screen freezes or won’t load, follow the steps in Troubleshoot identity verification issues for Cash.
Connect Phantom with Link #
To connect your Link account, follow these steps:
- On the Login to Stripe Link screen, enter your email address and tap Continue. If you don’t have a Link account, one will be created for you.
- Enter your current phone number.
- On Where do you live?, confirm your country of residence.
- On Confirm it’s you, enter the code sent to your phone.
- On Connect Phantom with Link, review the permissions and tap Allow.
Once connected, you’ll continue to identity verification.
If you don’t receive the verification text message or see an error saying your Link account is already connected, follow the relevant troubleshooting steps before restarting.
Provide your verification information #
On Verify your identity, review the information and terms, then tap Agree & Continue. Follow the prompts to provide the requested details.
The verification you're asked to complete depends on where you live.
- United States: Cash uses progressive verification. You may only need basic information for your first deposit, and you may be asked for more verification as the amount goes up or when you use other Cash features.
- European Union: You'll be asked to complete full verification before your first Stripe funding.
Requirements vary by region and account. Complete all verification steps requested for the feature you want to use.
Enter your details carefully and make sure they match your official records. Use a physical residential address. P.O. boxes aren’t accepted.
United States #
You may be asked to provide the following information:
- Phone number, date of birth, and residential address
- Social Security Number (SSN)
- Government-issued ID and a selfie
An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is not accepted.
European Union #
The information requested depends on your country and account.

| Personal details | Legal name, date of birth, address, nationality, and birth city or country |
| Government information | A national identifier, where required |

Check your verification status #
To check your status, follow these steps:
- Tap your profile avatar in the upper left.
- Go to Profile > Manage.
- Check the bottom of the screen.
If you see Show verified status instead of Verify my profile, your profile has a verified status. You can turn on Show verified status to display a purple checkmark on your profile.
You may still need additional verification for a particular Cash feature, such as the Phantom debit card. Follow any additional prompts shown in Cash.
If Link is still reviewing your information or you can’t continue, follow the troubleshooting instructions.
If verification fails or keeps repeating #
Link may be unable to verify your identity. Phantom cannot manually review, approve, or override a verification decision.
If Link couldn’t verify your identity, see Why did my Cash identity verification fail?
If you entered incorrect information, an upload failed, or the verification flow gets stuck, see Troubleshoot identity verification issues for Cash.
Update your verification information #
To change the email address, phone number, or address used for Cash verification, contact Phantom Support.
Some changes require deleting your Link account, removing its existing connection to Phantom, and completing verification again. Contact Support before deleting your Link account, because deletion can reset an existing Cash account and affect card access.

FAQ #
Is identity verification required to use Cash? #
Identity verification is optional for most Cash features. It is required for Stripe funding and, where available, direct bank deposits and withdrawals and the Phantom debit card.
Does Phantom store my verification information? #
Link handles identity verification. Phantom receives your verification status and does not store your identity documents or personal information other than your email.
Your verification status is linked to a unique identifier associated with your Phantom profile.
Can I verify more than one Cash account with the same identity information? #
Yes. You can have Cash accounts under different Phantom profiles and complete verification for each using the same identity information, including your email and phone number.
Multiple Cash accounts may cause connection issues. If you encounter an error, see My Link account is already connected to another wallet.
