Import an existing wallet into Phantom

You can bring a wallet from another app into Phantom using either a recovery phrase or a private key.

  • Use a recovery phrase to import the full wallet, including all accounts across supported chains (recommended).
  • Use a private key to import one address on one chain.

Import a recovery phrase

Importing a recovery phrases restores all accounts across supported chains (recommended). Phantom supports 12-word and 24-word recovery phrases. Recovery phrases created in Phantom are 12 words.

If your recovery phrase has a different length, you’ll need to import it using a wallet app that supports that format.

Browser extension

  1. Click I already have a wallet.
  2. Click Import Recovery Phrase.
  3. Paste your recovery phrase. 
  4. Click Import Wallet.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Create a password to unlock the extension.

Mobile app

  1. Tap I already have a wallet.
  2. Tap Other import options.
  3. Tap Import Seed Phrase.
  4. Paste your recovery phrase. 
  5. Tap Import Recovery Phrase.
  6. Tap Continue.
  7. Enable biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or similar).
  8. Tap Next, then Get Started.

Import a private key

Importing a recovery phrase restores one address on one supported chain.

Browser extension

  1. Click I already have a wallet.
  2. Click Import Private Key.
  3. Enter a name for the account.
  4. Select the network.
  5. Paste your private key.
  6. Click Import.

Mobile app

  1. Tap I already have a wallet.
  2. Tap Other import options.
  3. Tap Import Private Key.
  4. Enter a name for the account.
  5. Select the network.
  6. Paste your private key.
  7. Tap Import.
  8. Enable biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or similar).
  9. Tap Next, then Get Started.
