How to import an existing wallet into Phantom

  • Updated

Warning: Do not share your secret recovery phrase or private key with anyone. If someone has access to your secret phrase or private key, they will have access to your wallet. Phantom support will never ask you for your secret phrase or your private key.

If you’re using a wallet that supports Solana, Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Monad, Sui, or Bitcoin, you can easily import it into Phantom using your secret recovery phrase or private key. Phantom makes this process fast and secure, so you can get started in just a few steps.

Phantom currently only supports importing 12- or 24-word recovery phrases. If your phrase is a different length, you’ll need to use a wallet that supports that format.

This guide covers how to import your wallet using either the Phantom browser extension or the Phantom mobile app, depending on your device.

Import a wallet with a secret recovery phrase (browser extension)

  1. Open Phantom and select your avatar in the top left corner.
  2. Select Add / Connect Wallet ().
  3. Select Import Secret Recovery Phrase.
  4. Enter your secret recovery phrase and follow the prompts.

Import a wallet with a private key (browser extension)

Your private can be pasted in or manually entered, however it is case-sensitive, so be sure to pay close attention to avoid any errors.
  1. Open Phantom and select your avatar in the top left corner.
  2. Select Add / Connect Wallet ().
  3. Select Import Private Key.
