If you need to remove wallet data from your device or fix persistent app issues, you can reset Phantom. Resetting removes all wallet data from the current device only and returns Phantom to the welcome screen, where you can restore an existing wallet or create a new one. Your funds are not affected.
When you may need to reset Phantom
You may need to reset Phantom in the following situations:
- You want to remove all wallet data from your device or clear Phantom’s local data. Phantom doesn’t have a separate sign-out or clear cache option, so resetting the app performs that function.
- You are experiencing persistent errors, transaction failures across multiple sites, or unexpected behavior after a recent update.
- You have a Bitcoin transaction that shows as pending in Phantom, but is in fact completed on the blockchain.
- Apps are not connecting or responding correctly, and standard troubleshooting has not resolved the issue.
Important: If you reset Phantom without your original wallet credentials, you won’t be able to restore your wallet on this device.
Step 1: Back up your wallet credentials
Before resetting Phantom, make sure you have the credentials you originally used to create your wallet:
- Google or Apple wallet: Access to your Google or Apple account and, if set before, your four-digit PIN.
- Recovery phrase wallet: Your 12- or 24-word Secret Recovery Phrase.
- Additional imported wallets: If you imported additional recovery phrases or private keys, have those ready as well. You’ll need to import them again after the reset.
If you need to find your credentials first, see View your recovery phrase or private keys in Phantom.
