Recover tokens sent to an unsupported network

  • Updated

If you sent crypto to your Phantom wallet on a network Phantom doesn't support, such as BSC, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, or Linea, your tokens aren't lost. Because these are EVM-compatible networks, you can recover them using another EVM-compatible wallet.

Warning: Do not share your Secret Recovery Phrase or private key with anyone. If someone has access to either, they have full control of your wallet. Phantom Support will never ask for your recovery phrase or private key.

Recover your tokens

This guide uses MetaMask as an example, but the process is similar for other EVM-compatible wallets. Phantom does not endorse third-party wallets.

  1. Identify the network your tokens were sent on (for example, BSC, Arbitrum, or Avalanche).
  2. In Phantom, export the private key for the account that received the tokens. Go to SettingsManage Accounts, select the account, select Show Private Key, select the network, then copy the private key.
  3. Open MetaMask. If you don’t have MetaMask, download it from metamask.io.
  4. In MetaMask, go to Add walletImport an account, paste the private key from Phantom, then select Import.
  5. Verify that your tokens appear on the correct network. If they don’t appear, you may need to add the token contract in MetaMask.
  6. Once your tokens appear, send them to an exchange that supports withdrawing on a network Phantom supports. Make sure you have enough of the network's native token to cover the fee.
  7. Withdraw back to Phantom using a supported network.

After recovery

Importing a private key into another wallet increases exposure risk. If possible, transfer your crypto to a new account in Phantom after recovery.
