You can use biometric authentication in the Phantom mobile app for faster, more secure access. If you didn’t turn it on during wallet setup, you can enable it anytime.
Warning: Face ID or any other biometric authentication is an additional security measure—not a replacement for your 12-word recovery phrase or 4-digit PIN. Always back up your recovery phrase and remember your PIN.

FAQ
Why should I enable biometric authentication?
It adds an extra layer of security, preventing unauthorized access to your wallet.
Can I change my authentication method later?
Yes. Phantom relies on your device’s security settings. Changing your device’s authentication method will automatically update it for Phantom.
Does Phantom support two-factor authentication (2FA)?
No. Phantom doesn't support 2FA at this time.
Troubleshooting
If Phantom is locked and your biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint) isn’t working, for example, after water damage or a broken sensor, your phone should prompt you for your device passcode instead.
Warning: Face ID or any other biometric authentication is an additional security measure—not a replacement for your recovery phrase or PIN. Always back up your recovery phrase and keep your PIN secure.
Step 1: Unlock Phantom
- Open the Phantom mobile app.
- When prompted for biometric authentication, tap Try again.
- If it fails, enter your device passcode to unlock Phantom.
Step 2: Turn off biometric authentication
- Tap your profile avatar in the upper-left corner.
- Go to Settings → Security & Privacy.
- Turn off Use Face ID authentication (if you use Touch ID or fingerprint, the name may differ).
- When prompted for biometric authentication, tap Try again, then enter your device passcode to confirm.
Step 3 (optional): Export your recovery phrase
If you created your wallet using a recovery phrase, you can export it for backup. If you used your Apple or Google login and 4-digit PIN, you can skip this step or export your recovery phrase for extra security.
- In Settings → Security & Privacy, tap Show Recovery Phrase.
- Tap Copy to clipboard, then store your phrase somewhere safe. You'll also need it for next step.
Step 4: Restore your wallet on another device
You can restore your wallet on another device, such as your desktop computer or another phone.
- Install the Phantom browser extension from phantom.com/download.
- Click I already have a wallet, then:
- Click Import Seed Phrase if you have a recovery-phrase wallet.
- Click Connect Email Wallet if you have a seedless wallet.
- Follow the prompts to restore your wallet.
- When biometric authentication works again, you can re-enable it Settings → Security & Privacy in the Phantom mobile app.
