Phantom usernames give you a simple, recognizable identity that replaces long wallet addresses. They personalize your wallet and make it easier to send and receive crypto across networks and devices.
Profiles, usernames, and wallets
You'll only see a profile in Phantom after you claim a username. If you haven't claimed one yet, you won't see a profile avatar, profile settings, or the Manage Profile screen. Your wallet still works normally—profile features just aren't available until you choose a username.
- Profile: Your username, avatar, privacy settings, and a unique identifier that your Phantom Cash account is linked to.
- Username: The
@handleused for transfers, chats, and visibility in the app. - Wallet: Holds your accounts and assets. Restored using a recovery phrase, Google or Apple account, or private key.
A profile can have one username. A wallet may or may not have a profile.
What usernames unlock
- Make peer-to-peer payments to friends using Phantom Cash.
- Send and receive crypto from other Phantom users on supported networks.
- Join live chats on tokens, perps, and prediction markets.
- Sync your linked accounts across all devices.
Public addresses
Your Phantom username is linked to a set of addresses—one for each supported network (Solana, Ethereum, Bitcoin, and so on). When someone sends you funds using your username, the funds route to the corresponding address for that network.
By default, your username is linked to the address from the first account created in the wallet when you claimed it. If that's your only account, it's used across all supported networks.
Multiple accounts
You can assign a different address for each network using any of your accounts—even ones imported from another recovery phrase. To the sender, it looks the same: they send to your username. On your end, you control which address receives funds per network.
If an assigned address becomes unavailable
If you assigned a public address from a wallet that was later removed (for example, by removing a recovery phrase), Phantom won't automatically reassign your username. You'll need to update it manually.
This also applies to seedless wallets (created with Google or Apple login) that you deleted. If you set up a new wallet using the same login, your username remains, but you'll need to link it to the new addresses.
To update, go to Settings → your username → Public Addresses → select the correct address for each network.
Username guidelines
To keep our community safe, usernames may be revoked if they:
- Impersonate public figures or organizations
- Infringe on trademarks or intellectual property
- Are created for squatting or resale
- Contain inappropriate or profane language
- Are used for phishing or scams

FAQ
How do I claim a username?
You'll be prompted when setting up a new wallet. If you created a wallet before usernames were required, you may be eligible to claim one from Settings. Usernames aren't available for Ledger wallets. See Claim a Phantom username.
Can I change my username?
Yes, once every 14 days. Go to Settings → Profile → Username → Edit Username. See Change your Phantom username.
Can I delete my username?
No. Usernames can't be deleted.
How many usernames can I have?
One at a time.
Can I link multiple wallets to my username?
You can link one multi-chain wallet. All addresses in that wallet will be linked to your username.
Do usernames expire?
No.
Can I recover my username if I deleted my wallet?
Yes, if you created a new wallet using the same Google or Apple login. After setup, update your public addresses to point to the new wallet.
Can I recover my username if I lost access to my wallet?
No. If you lost access and don't have your recovery phrase, there's no way to recover your username or reassign it. Phantom can't manually unlink or reassign usernames because we can't confirm original ownership or know if the current owner will return.
